2025 Year in Review

This has been a year of recovery. God continues to faithfully walk with us and prove His goodness and nearness.

In addition to the usual homeschooling, worship leading, youth ministry, Ad Lib team leadership, and grocery shopping, here are some highlights: Felicity was born, Dave published a book, we celebrated 20 years of marriage and moved our family again, and Aspen graduated from high school.

Here’s a month-by-month bullet point list. (scroll down for pictures)

January

  • We hosted cousins Kevin and Joyce (and Taylor) for an afternoon

  • We welcomed Felicity Esperanza on the 11th

  • Birthdays: Dave 53, Louis 15, Clementine 17, Felicity 0

February

  • We hosted Dave’s mom (Esther aka Tita) for a week

  • Dave and Heather started going to counseling

March

  • Dave and Aspen served in worship at the International Baptist Church annual men’s retreat

  • Clementine led an AMCA International Youth Group student leader girls’ retreat

  • Clementine is officially taller than Heather

  • Birthdays: Heather 45, Caspian 7

April

  • Dave took a ministry trip to Lancaster, PA, with Aspen to lead Ad Lib’s worship workshop and teach on the Five Faders

  • Aspen, Clementine, Louis, and Juliana went to the AMCA International Youth Group campout

  • Louis is also officially taller than Heather

  • Birthdays: Juliana 13

May

  • Dave preached (in Spanish) and we led worship as a family (with 9-year-old Huxley making his debut on bass guitar) at the Iglesia Bautista La Gracia

  • Clementine led worship for the first time at AMCA International Youth Group

June

  • We hosted Clementine’s friend Alisa Lewis for three weeks

  • We moved our family of nine to the Chahuites house

  • Dave’s sister Chalene and niece Ella visited

  • Birthdays: Huxley 10

July

  • Dave led the Movimiento Juvenil Encuentros campout

  • Dave added two new Ad Lib coaches

  • Dave led worship for Encuentros kids campout

  • Aspen and Clementine attended the Cautivados youth worship training camp and Dave taught a session

August

  • Birthdays: Aspen 19

September

  • We worked together to beautify the front yard at our new house, and Heather made a flowerbed

  • Dave taught at the Vida220 discipleship school with our pastor, Elmer Flores

October

  • We celebrated 20 years of marriage!

  • Dave published the Five Faders book

  • Dave’s Ad Lib coaches led a second successful worship workshop in Lancaster, PA

  • Aspen, Clementine, and Juliana go to AMCA International Youth Group camp

  • We performed the Mexican Rhapsody at a humor symposium at VidaNet

November

  • We hosted the third annual Harvest Party with the Movimiento Juvenil Encuentros and Vida220 students

  • Dave taught the Five Faders to the English Christian Fellowship in Ezcazu

  • Heather received her Costa Rican citizenship

December

  • Dave went on a ministry trip to Lancaster, PA with Louis to teach at the Ablaze School of Worship

  • We hosted Heather’s parents for two weeks

  • Aspen Graduated from high school

  • Dave wrote over 50 articles for worship over the year
