Big Update
The short version:
We’re welcoming a baby girl due the first week of January 2025!
Pasteje’s owners asked us to move off the farm.
This week, we are moving to another “original farmhouse” for about a year (this time to a working coffee plantation.)
Other than that, it’s life as usual around here. 😉
In all seriousness, the move is disconcerting and challenging. We deeply resonate with 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 TPT: “Though we experience every kind of pressure, we’re not crushed. At times we don’t know what to do, but quitting is not an option. We are persecuted by others, but God has not forsaken us. We may be knocked down, but not out.”
The owners have asked us to move because they are shutting down Pasteje for a season while dealing with their family’s health issues. They also aren’t comfortable with our ministry utilizing the farm. And as heartbreaking as it is to walk away from something we’ve cared about deeply and invested greatly in over the last three years, there are moments when it feels like freedom. Moments.
Even though we could’ve stayed on the farm until the end of the year, we decided it was best to leave now for several reasons. The “pregnanter” Heather is, the less fun it is to move. It’s too disruptive to start homeschooling and interrupt it with a move, so we are waiting to begin until we’ve moved. And lastly, it’s just hard to be on the farm, seeing all that we’ve poured into and now need to walk away from.
Over the next year, we plan to reset and reboot while we seek the Lord for direction, timing, and provision.
Thanks for praying with us!
Love,
Dave, Heather, Aspen, Clementine, Louis, Juliana, Huxley, Caspian, and Baby Girl! Helmuth
